Quantifying Surface Topography
Surface regularity is a measure of a surface's deviation from a perfect flat plane. It determines a surface's suitability for its intended use.
To assess surface regularity, a high-definition 3D laser scanner captures the surface's topography. The collected data undergoes processing to calculate height deviations.
The results can be visualized in various formats:
-
Surface level grid: Displays height variations relative to a fixed reference point.
-
Contour map: Illustrates the surface's shape through elevation lines.
-
Height heatmap: Uses color to represent height variations across the surface.
